OXNARD, CA: Man Seriously Injured in New Year’s Day Crash on Pleasant Valley Road and J Street
DUI Arrest Made Following Suspected DUI Major Injury Crash in Oxnard
Oxnard, California (January 3, 2016) – A 20-year-old man was seriously injured early Sunday morning in a traffic collision in Oxnard, according to an Oxnard Police report.
The serious injury crash occurred at about 3:33 a.m. at J Street and Pleasant Valley intersection.
According to the report, the a 2011 BMW driven by 20-year-old Daniel Escobedo of Oxnard was traveling south on J Street when it struck a parked vehicle and sheared the right front wheel. The vehicle continued down on the street and entered the intersection with Pleasant Valley where Escobedo lost control of the vehicle and struck a sign and light pole. Reportedly, the vehicle then flipped over to its side trapping its occupants.
The occupants of the car were extricated by the Oxnard City Fire Department officers.
A male front passenger sustained major injuries in the crash while Escobedo had minor injuries.
The man was rushed to Ventura County Medical Center in serious condition.
The driver was subsequently arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence and was booked into the Ventura County Jail.
The accident remains under investigation.
